This stunning, natural gemstone necklace measures 20" and features over 75 carats of the finest gem quality faceted Ethiopian Opal nuggets that have been carefully knotted by hand with black thread.
The knots that sit between the Opals provides protection from the gems rubbing against each other, which minimises the potential for breakage.
These Opals are incredible! They look almost holographic. The Opals have a golden base colour with intense fire and flashes in all the colours of the rainbow but primarily vibrant reds, deep oranges and electric greens.
The Opal nuggets are faceted and range in size from the smallest 7.5mm to the largest at 15mm!
*** Please note that Ethiopian Opals are hydrophane and must be kept away from dampness and moisture - please see below for further information on how to store and care for your Opal jewellery***
This showstopper of a necklace is fastened with a hand-forged solid gold hook clasp available in either 9k or 14k yellow gold and polished to a high shine. The solid gold clasp and ring weigh just under 2 grams, which in UK law requires hallmarking. The Hallmark is your guarantee of quality, so you can be assured that you will receive solid gold, never plated gold!
Nylon thread is recommended over pure silk for knotting gemstones as the silk can be frayed by the gem's bead holes - Additionally, nylon thread is an excellent vegan alternative to pure silk as no silk worms need to perish to make nylon thread; we don't believe that looking beautiful should cause harm to others!
*** This necklace will be dispatched with Express shipping with DPD (3-8 working days delivery) and is included in the price. UK orders will be sent with Royal Mail Special Delivery***

💎 Do Not Let Ethiopian Opals Get Wet!
**Ethiopian Opals are natural gemstones that require some special care to maintain their internal fire & colourful flashes. Ethiopian Opals (unlike Australian Opals) are “hydrophane” - this means that they like to absorb moisture and when they do their appearance will change and they can lose their colour and turn brown.
Ethiopian Opals can be dried out and their colour should return once dried, however this depends on how much moisture they absorbed. To maintain your Opal jewellery; never spray perfume, deodorant or use sunscreen or lotion directly on your necklace - put on your necklace after spraying perfume etc as the chemicals will be absorbed by the Opals and change their colour.
Furthermore Opals must be kept away from water and moisture, never swim, bathe or shower while wearing Opal jewellery and protect the Opals from dampness and moisture by storing the necklace in an airtight container when not being worn.
It is very common to have to periodically 'dry out' your Opals by leaving them in a sunny window for a few hours, this will suck out the moisture and should return their colourful flashes.
